The Friends of the Library Bookstore:
The bookstore has new hours as of February 1, 2023:
- Tuesday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
- Thursday: 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
- Friday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
- Saturday: 9:00 am - 1:30 pm
The bookstore is located just inside the entrance to the library and is staffed entirely by the Friends group. The bookstore features donated and gently used books, and has books for children of all ages. Please, do not donate textbooks or outdated technical manuals. We also accept and sell jigsaw puzzles with no missing pieces, DVDs, music CDs, audio books, LPs, and board games with no missing pieces. Donations can be brought in during store hours.
All proceeds received from donations and bookstore sales are used to aid the library in providing services, programs, books, and other equipment the library might otherwise be unable to afford.
Do the Friends raise money?
The Friends conduct fund-raisers to buy needed items for the library. Proceeds from the sale of books at the used bookstore along with memorial/honor gifts also go to support the library.
What volunteer work do the Friends do?
The Friends' operate the used bookstore, work as library volunteers, and perform other tasks as requested by the library staff and the Library Advisory Commission.
Each year the Friends give almost 3000 hours of their time in service to the Universal City Public Library.
