Fire Department

FD patch (002)

The Mission of The Universal City Fire Department is to provide the highest quality of emergency services and emergency management coordination to the residents and those who are traveling through our community.  We strive to provide services with the highest level of professionalism and courtesy.

The Fire Department has a full time Staff of 25 members. The staff consist of the Fire Chief, Fire Marshal/Asst. Chief, MH/Fire Prevention Officer, and three shifts each consisting of a Captain, Lieutenant and five Firefighters.

Our department provides the citizens of our community with 24-hour fire protection, full advanced life support (ALS) EMS first response, and year round fire prevention and education at no charge.  We have Schertz EMS permanently housed in our station that is dedicated to responding to emergencies in Universal City, Live Oak, and part of Selma.  We have 2 Paramedics and 1 EMT-Intermediates on staff.  The majority of our staff is trained in Swift Water, High Angle Rescue and Wildland Fire operations.  We also have several members on the Combined Emergency Services Organization (CESO)   all-hazards response.

The UC Professional Firefighters Association (IAFF Local 4073) organizes several events to raise money for their Burn-out Fund that assist local families who have had their lives upset by fire.  Our annual Pancake breakfasts and golf tournament are traditional events that support the Association.
